This is one of the most inspiring and uplifting true stories ever.

I cried often during the film...
I identified a lot with Denzel Whitaker, the outsider, trying to work through a whole range of emotions in relationship to a female friend who was interested in another teenager...

I've really wanted to see this film. Is it out on DVD yet?

The DVD is available now. Circuit City has it for $19.99.

Among the features on the dvd is a conversation with people who went to the college back in those tough days of the thirties, forties, and fifties...

Joseph...just had to come back and tell you. We were finally able to rent the movie and watch.

It was powerful...a box of kleenex between my daughter and me...sad tears, angry tears, devastated tears, joyous tears, amazed tears, appreciative tears...oh, just every kind of emotion possible. THAT'S movie-making...and this movie should be shown in classrooms.
