Spring Fling, March 7th., Key Civic Centre

This beautiful painting, "Spring King" was done by Two Waters Arts Alliance artist, Robin Peterson. Robin designed this year's Spring Fling poster but I couldn't get my hands on one! I didn't think I could do her work justice by scanning it from the black and white advertisement in the Key Pen News, so I looked at her website (which is linked from the www.twowaters.org Artists' Directory) and chose this wonderful little Belted Kingfisher as an example of her talent and craft.

Doors will open at the Key Civic Centre at 7pm on Saturday, March 7th. Admission is $10 for members and $15 for non-members (ages 16 and up, please) for a night of wonderful art for exhibit and sale, conversation, hors d'oeuvres, a no-host bar, and Jazz Musette for your entertainment.

I'm really so proud to be a part of the vibrant Arts Community on the Key Pen. Difficult financial times mean that artists really struggle to make a living...but we could no more stop what we're doing than the turning of the seasons could cease. It seems to me, in times like these we are needed even more. What lifts our spirits in the general community more than the Arts? This is our service...audio-visual hope and renewal, in tandem with the earth's stirring. When the left-brain is overwhelmed, the right brain can re-invent us.

Jazz Musette has a Spring bouquet of new songs, both standard and original, that we've been working on over the winter. I'm excited and can't wait to see what my artistic friends and colleagues have in their bouquets to share with us. I can't wait to dance through the audience and wrap my arms around folks I haven't seen in a while. I can't wait to swirl with the colours, motion, beauty, love and mutual respect in the room. Come and dance with us till your ears, eyes and hearts are full.

Invest in the Arts. I promise, you will never be poor. See you Saturday, mossbacks!

I wish I was going to be in town to fling a spring, Lorraine, but Home will be in my thoughts!

Keep loving and growing, sweet artist... without creative human beings like you I would be turning into rusty dust.

I am not going to be able to make it out there, Lorraine. Shoot! The next gig is when?

To tell the truth...there's nothing on the books for us just now. Artists feel the pinch quickly in a recession.

I will miss yo' smilin' face Kim!
