A Short Jaunt To London's Thames River Via "In Your Neighborhood"

No matter how much we love our beautiful South Sound, isn't it nice to occasionally get away ? I love to travel and considering the relentless rise of foreign currency against the US dollar, the biggest favor you can do for yourself is to be flexible in order to further stretch what's left in your rapidly shrinking wallet.

Via the miracle of your imagination we are offering a free pass to allow you to momentarily get away from what you are doing and fly to busy and bustling London for a few minute walk along the Thames River at absolutely no cost to you save your valuable time!

All three photos shown with this blog were taken by myself last spring during a once in a lifetime overseas trip my spouse arranged for the two of us with time in the great cities of London, Paris and Amsterdam to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

On this day we took the bus from Kings Cross to Trafalager Square, then boarded a second bus which took us to Parliment. From Parliment we walked across the river, and followed ever-present crowds along the beautiful walks which have been constructed by the riverside while enjoying the posted sites and some equally wonderful entertainment by veteran riverside performers like the gentleman show here who know how to draw and keep good crowds.

Other stops (not shown) that we made along the Thames that day included a brief tour of the famous Globe Theatre and the latest in contemporary art at Tate Modern treasures which are vividly recalled, repeated and enjoyed. We fell in love with the stunning city views afforded from a rooftop perch aboard a shiny, sparkling bright red double-decker London bus.

Consider this a brief but well-earned reward from the strenuous effort and rigors of scrolling through the welcoming and colorful panorama of blogs produced by fellow area residents and News Tribune readers all, who open their hearts, share their thoughts, stories, lives and travels every day of the week here In Your Neighborhood.

*SQUEAL* Oh what a great mini-trip, right on my budget...thank you! It's funny how looking at your pics can bring back the feel, sound, and smell of being right there.

Of course, now I have to go have a cuppa!

I can certainly see the possibility of arranging another jaunt or two. For example, shopping in Paris? A night at the Eiffel Tower, a look at London's Chinatown.....
