Groovy Rhodes Poster Child
I was perusing through online photos and came across this long, lost picture that I had intended to share with The Neighborhood last year when I did an extensive article on Tacoma's famous Rhodes Department Store and my grandma's continued involvement in preserving her former employer's value, history, and alumni connections. I attempted to post this photo (amongst others), but our blog was crashing continuously and I gave up.
So, here's yours truly, in my 1970's glory, as the poster child for Rhodes. Well, not really. I was one of the winners of a photo contest that the Rhodes portrait studio held. I think I was probably five years old in the picture. I love those little touches; the plastic daisy, my crooked bangs, and my groovy green clothes.
I have more great historic photos of Rhodes, courtesy of my grandma. More to come! Readers and bloggers, break out those Rhodes memories and share!

Beautiful girl...grew into beautiful woman...in more ways than twelve!
Ah...! You are so sweet! Wow! Beauty is as beauty does, and you, my lady, are the real deal!

What a dawwwrling pic of you as a young girl! No wonder you won the contest! I admire your grandmother keeping up with this group of former Rhodes employees and would love to hear their story!
More Rhodes stuff to come!
I don't notice your crooked bangs, only your beautiful smile. :)

P.S. If you ever want to see a real example of crooked bangs, I have a drawerful. Due to a cowlick in front (I'm blessed with 2-3) and a thrify mom with no beauty school training who styled my hair for years, I AM the poster girl for crooked bangs.
*sigh* I was responsible for crooked bangs on my son...and my first husband...I'm not allowed near scissors and hair anymore!
