Come-On-A My House

That old Rosemary Clooney song plays in my mind as the sun pulls me out to the back deck of our Aerie, into the garden and the view beyond.

"I'm gonna give-a you candy..."

Nothing feels as sweet as the warming sun, when another winter readies to hand-off to spring in the South Sound. Everywhere you look, folks are turning up their faces and closing their eyes for a little dip in vitamin D. Everyone wears that slightly goofy smile that signals a bout of spring fever and the urge to play in the garden.

"Come-on-a my house, my house-a come on..."

Looking like a sugar glaze, dewdrops decorate still tightly-closed crocus in the early morning.

This hanging basket (showing the leaves of what will be a blood-red tulip) becomes a portal to Joe's Bay beyond and below our Aerie.

In just five days we turn our clocks forward...another man-made trick, while the earth rocks 'n' rolls on her own time. Spring comes calendar-early with the equinox on the nineteenth, followed quickly by the first full moon of the season on the twenty-first. This is the time to gleefully be, "mad as a March Hatter!" for, as Mark Knopfler sings...

Why worry...there's always laughter after pain...there's always sunshine after rain...these things have always been the same...so why worry now....
