This Thursday was such a date. We agreed to touch base in the morning. As promised my friend called, but after her initial hello, she added that her original idea to run over to the Tacoma Farmers Market on Broadway between 9th and 11th Streets might have to be put on hold. "Why's that?"I said into the phone.
"Because it's raining." she said glumly, no doubt remembering nicer summer days at the Tacoma Farmers Market in the past where we've both made many fond memories. But I was unfazed by her temporary gloom and prior to her call, I had prepared dressing for the day in my official Tacoma Farmers Market t-shirt, a white cotton number with the cute little orange carrot design in front.
Had the same idea!" I told her. More cheerfully, I added although our homes are less than one mile from each other on the weather map, nary a single drop had yet fallen in my backyard.
So I got in my car, picked her up at home and we headed for downtown Tacoma. Just as we parked the car it started to sprinkle again but we were committed.
Fortunately for us and the other hardy souls who braved the uncertain skies overhead to check out today's market, the rain shortly lifted enough for a great visit to be had by all as you can see from the pictures accompanying this blog.

We love the Thursday market! Can't wait to have time to go and for more fruit & vegetables to be in season. Eat locally!
Our markets around here are just great. I need to get downtown! Also,I am totally excited for the 6th Ave. market that's happening in July.
Come over here and check out the Gig Harbor Market! But don't wait for July. The bridge toll is going up.
