It was July 8, 2007.

July 8th is Charles' birthday and also our wedding anniversary.

We were married in Pioneer Park in Steilacoom on the Bandstand just before sunset 14 years ago.

Each year we try to return to the Bandstand and 'relive' the memories of our special occasion.

Last year when we were at the Bandstand, I noticed the all-red freight train rounding the bend on Chambers Bay coming into Steilacoom.

The bright red of all the container cars was striking in more than one way: I was sick that day with a temp of 104 degrees. I had strep throat. My face was as red as that train -- and being out in the heat on that summer day only made my fever worse.

So it was indeed a memorable afternoon, but still a joy to be out there near the water with the beautiful view of the islands and the Olympics.Jaynie Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18030744076443715894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4456617944315372118.post-13621340052002220262008-07-31T11:21:00.000-07:002008-07-31T11:21:00.000-07:00Jaynie -I love the feeling of stillness and timele...Jaynie -

I love the feeling of stillness and timeless continuity which is communicated to me in this picture of the railroad train going by with the bay in the background.

Have great memories of a one-time brunch at an old mansion in the area with friends a number of years ago and tour of a nearly completely preserved nearby company town (Port Gamble?).

There's a lot of love that you put into this shot and while it is not as - how shall I say, conventionally dramatic as those who won a spot in the calendar - I enjoyed your posting it very much.

The weather the day you took the shot was lovely too wasn't it?Mizu Sugimurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00347656318146698169noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4456617944315372118.post-24620022277548836432008-07-30T16:45:00.000-07:002008-07-30T16:45:00.000-07:00Hey, that's a calender I want to have!
