Longtime news director and reporter,
Dennis Shannon, 68, has died. 
His familiar voice was known on KOMO and several otherSeattle , Bellevue 
and Everett   radio
stations before putting down roots at KONA in the Tri-Cities, which became his
home for more than 17 years. 
He developed his own journalistic style.
He was well-known to Seattle and Puget Sound radio listeners after having grown up inLakewood  ,
but found his home in the Tri-Cities. 
In 2013, Shannon received a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for excellence as a broadcast journalist for his coverage of a tragic charter bus crash near Pendleton, Oregon, which killed nine and injured 38.

pursued a career in Broadcast Journalism at Washington  State 
 University  .
Numerous Facebook tributes
have sprung up expressing great affection for him and shock at his passing.
He was found dead in his Pasco   home on Monday
following Thanksgiving.  The Franklin  County   coroner has indicated that his
death was due to “natural causes.”

is hosting the memorial gathering for Dennis Shannon at the Pasco Eagles’ Lodge
on Saturday, December 15 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. 
Everyone who knew Dennis – family
members, friends, colleagues – is welcome to attend and share special
memories.  Bring photos, tapes or other
memorabilia from his career as a news broadcaster, and stories that will
memorialize him for years to come. 
The Eagles’ bar will be open
during the get-together.  However, no
food service or potluck is planned.
